Study your card. If you have a Maestro logo on it, you can use your card abroad wherever you see the Maestro sign, just as you would use Solo in the UK ?but be aware that in some countries you may be asked to use your PIN as identification. If you have Maestro and/or Cirrus on your card, you can use it to withdraw cash at machines where these logos are displayed. Contact your bank for details of any charges you might incur when making transactions abroad.

如上所言，不是所有的solo卡都能在英国以外使用，而且取现有限额，参照英国银行提款机的限额，大家可以知道不会很多。取现费用为3%左右。

The NatWest Card Solo card bears both Mastro and Cirrus logo, and is fine with withdrawing cash(coz that' my main purpose). The charge is 2.25% of your withdraw amount, and maximum charge is 4.95Pounds. Daily limit abroad is 250Pounds, it works out much cheaper than money order.(Notice, different bank has different fee standard, HSBC is even cheaper, NationWide is even free!
